A ‘how to’ guide to the Coronavirus Stimulus Check for Non Filers

Today (May 13th, 2020) is the last day for you to register to get your $1,200 coronavirus stimulus check via direct deposit.

While many American taxpayers have received their stimulus checks already, some non filers are still waiting for their checks. For many of our residents, this means that they or a loved one may need to register with the IRS as a non filer in order to receive their payment. Here is a step by step guide to make it easier for non filers to check their status and apply.

Lets get started!
1. Go to the IRS website. All the information you need is here!

2. Before we fill out a non filer application – lets check your status. Click “Get My Payment”

3. You will then be taken to an information page and then click “Get My Payment.”

4. You will then be taken to a slightly intimidating page that makes you wonder if you are in the right place. Rest easy, you are – Click “OK”

.

5. Fill in your information onto the form and hit continue.

.

6. If you see something like this – it most likely means that you need to enter your information to receive your payment. Let’s go back to IRS.gov.

.

7. There are a few different ways to do this, but for simplicity’s sake lets go back the same route! Click “Get my payment”

.

.

.

17. Unfortunately, we’re going to have to login again now that our account has been verified. Click “Get Started”
.

18. This screen look familiar? Since we’ve already created our account, click “Sign In.”

.

19. Put your newly created secure login information in the User ID and Password spaces and click “Sign In”

.

20. The first thing you will see is an official looking tax form. Fill in all your information.

.

21. Once you’ve completed this form, click “Step 2: E-File Your Tax Forms” at the bottom of the page there is also a button you can click.

.

22. Fill in all the necessary information on Step Two and then click “Continue To E-File”

.

23. Once you’ve completed this step you will confirm all your information once more and you’ll be on your way!

.

24. Once you complete the Non-Filers: Payment Information you can then check the status of your payment again over the next couple days using Steps 2-5  and see if you find updates.

.

25. If you don’t see any updates, Don’t Worry the IRS will be starting the paperwork this week to send out physical checks. They have not yet indicated whether you will be able to check the status of your physical check, but it will get to you!

.

We hope that this guide was helpful to you and wish you the best in this strange time.

Stay safe and have a good rest of the week!
